Legacy

"Legacy" honors Patsy Jo Hilliard, East Point’s first Black female mayor, elected in 1993. Using Ghanaian Adinkra symbols, the Artist weaves in the Aya (fern), representing endurance and resourcefulness—fittingly, the mural’s home is the Aya building.

Featuring the Mayor’s motto, "Be True To Thyself," the textured portrait celebrates authenticity and bravery. It serves as a reminder to stay grounded in personal values while drawing strength from the past to build the future.
