John Duke

John Duke is a hydrologist by trade and builds FEMA floodplain maps. He contracts with engineering firms through his own company, Hydroecology North America.

While he spends his professional life analyzing the flow of water, his personal mission is reimagining the flow of humanity. A longtime advocate for the StrongTowns.org movement, John traded his data sets for a paintbrush to stage a creative intervention on Main Street in College Park. By treating this ancient, pre-car corridor as a canvas for tactical urbanism, he physically carved out space for transportation diversity. For John, this project wasn't just about paint on asphalt; it was a visionary act of rebellion against a car-dominated culture, designed to return the streets to the people who walk them.
